a slice of peace
by Chritopher Patchel, (Illinois)
& Harriot West, (Oregon)
start of summer
we inch ourselves
into the water
painting my toenails
a brighter shade of pale
one more sip
before I approach her
for a dance
vin rouge
she wraps her lips around
the unfamiliar vowels
after Prufrock
a slice of peach
my head still spinning
when the carousel
leaves town
